The history of Floorball

Floorball has been part of the programme of the FISU World University Championships since 2002. The first two editions were organised respectively in Göteborg (Sweden) and Bern (Switzerland) with only men tournaments. Since the 3rd World University Floorball Championship organised in Kuortane (Finland), women have been competing for the title as well. Four different countries hosted the event since its start, with Sweden repeating the organisation. In 2014 the even was hosted for the first time outside of Europe, in Singapore – which was equally hosting its inaugural FISU event. The last edition took place in Lodz (Poland) in 2018. The 2020 WUC Floorball will take place in Koper (Slovenia).
